I have a 2008 Ram 2500 6.7L EFI Live on 35's with 72K miles it. The problem I am experiencing is that once this tranny issue is triggered as I am driving, I only have 1st and 4th gears. This issue goes away if I turn the truck off and restart it.

P0882 and truck stuck in 4th means you are not getting 12V power from the Trans Relay (in the Totally Integrated Power Module [TIPM]) to the trans. The PCM sends a signal (at startup) to tell the Trans Relay to close, which then feeds 12V power to the trans. Might be best to have your dealer diagnose. ….

Basically all the problems with these transmissions are valve body related and the poor machining and casting quality of the components resulting in leakage. The rest of the transmission is generally pretty stout, with no real concerns, to the best of my knowledge.
