112 posts · Joined 2003. #5 · Aug 17, 2003. I own a Mossy 500, Mossy 835, and a Benelli Nova. The Mossy's are good guns, have always been reliable, and didn't cost me a pile of money. The Benelli is a GREAT gun, and cost me about what I paid for both the Mossy's combined. If your budget is small, go with the Mossy's, they'll do the job reliably.The Mossburg is just as durable (alum receiver) the bolt still locks to the barrel extension so its a moot point picking the differences between the Rem/Moss, Mossie's are a sweet gun (I have both a 870 wingmaster and a Mossy 500 with 2 barrels factory ported barrels for less than $200)The 870 is one of those guns everyone tends to shoot well. Its Express, Wingmaster, and Fieldmaster variants are some of the best-patterning pump shotguns of all-time. The SPS Super Magnum has a thumbhole stock, which is why I give this model a slight edge over the Mossberg 500, another well-built turkey slayer.

I also own a Benelli SuperNova w/28" barrel in Max-4 camo. It is a great gun. I love it, doesn't misfire at all or rattle anymore than a Remington Express. Rattles far less than a Mossberg or Browning Pump for sure.
