Casitas Dam is a dam on Coyote Creek that forms Lake Casitas near Ojai, California. Construction of Casitas Dam began in July 1956 and was completed in March 1959. The dam is located two miles (3 km) above the junction of Coyote Creek and the Ventura River. Water from the Ventura River is diverted to Lake Casitas as well. Once the Casitas Dam was completed Lake Casitas remained practically empty for four years. Water levels were only a foot and a half above the bottom of the lowest intake gate by 1961. Water was too low to get to customers.
