New User. Oct 7, 2010. #1. I recently purchased a Farmall super H. This is a tractor I originally purchased in 1961 when I was 17 years old. I left the farm in the late 60's and sold the tractor. The guy that purchased it at my sale owned the tractor for about 40 years. I believe the H used the same frame as the M so the size should be comparable but the M had higher HP.

The A (I'd suggest a Super A because it has the hydraulic touch control unit) is twice as much tractor as the Cub.Feb 26, 2006. #1. Gentlement: My son bought a Farmall that has a very old decal on the hood indicating a Super H. The one number that I can read on the brass tag that is on the clutch bell housing is 196352 X1. The engine number is FBH-196352 X1. I understand that the "X1" means gasoline.
The 100 is the immediate follow on to the Super A. Mechanically it would be almost identical to a late model Super A, (sometimes called a Super A1). A little different sheet metal, new emblems, probably a few other sutble differences, but, essentially the same tractor. [Log in to Reply] [No Email]The difference is in the intake & exh. manifold. The 400 didn't pre-heat the intake mixture as much as the old M series did and that allowed an extra HP or two. By 1954 everyone was using gasoline and that vaporized better than the older heavier fuels the early tractors had to run.H - 5.50-16 and 11.2x38. SH - 6.00-16 and 12.4x38. M - 6.00-16 and 13.6x38. SM- 6.50-16 and 14.9x38. However I do think my MD looks good with bigger tires. Vision for it is power steering, wide front with 6.50-16s and a set of front wheel weights and 14.9x38s on the rear with two-sets or wheel weights. S.The primary difference was the addition of a hydraulic lift system on the Super A. The engines were the same size (113 c.i.), but the SA had a whisker more compression. The hoods were also the same height, as was the grill. Later Super A's could have the fast hitch option, but not many did. Caveat: The very last of the Super A's in the later ...Boards. Technical IH Talk. Farmall H starter. I have been having trouble with the starter and finally had time to get the tractor in the shop last weekend since it was -16 outside. The starter would not engage or turn over when I hit the push button. I checked all my grounds and other wires and had 6v at the starter post.
